Parenthood isn’t servitude.
It’s an honor, an active form of service and a rare chance to live life twice.
Calling ourselves servants sounds demeaning, but reframed it becomes the most meaningful venture: we’re stewarding inventions of our own.
A being you hold 50% equity in, and committing to that child’s success is a founder’s dream realized in human form.
I’ve never met a founder disappointed by a winning company.
I’ve never met a parent who was unreservedly disappointed by a child who truly flourished.
So our first job, once a child arrives, is not sacrifice for its own sake but an opportunity to relearn life through another’s eyes: to teach, to be taught, and to be reshaped.
Our children become our greatest teachers: mirrors into our partners’ pasts, a prompt to excavate the lessons we never knew we might pass on, and a daily invitation to grow into the people we hope we might be.
You know you love me.

NB - I’m paywalling this newsletter. The reason:
Substack seems to throttle free article writers, which makes it harder to attract new friends. I do not want to charge for this Substack, but the algorithm has required I do it. I hope you find my going forward pricing scheme compelling, but if not, no hard feelings. Thanks for all your support everyone!
I write for myself in the first instance, but also to connect with like-minded people. I am blessed to have wonderful people in my life. My friends are friends for life - if they choose to be.
Substack chooses not to reveal the OD Rate % but you can easily calculate the metric for yourself.
OD Rate means folks OverDosing on the content!
I’ve written 95 posts over the past 205 days.
That’s 3.24 posts per week.
The following five posts are the ones people OD’ed on. Any rate over 100% informs how many times someone opened the email and perhaps shared the post.
