75 years old and I’m still in love with the rational yet experimental nature of this design. I wonder … what might a Breuer House look like today; to cater for The Sandwich Generation?
I live in a tony suburb with a 10% poverty rate; 20 miles north of the City. We have a kid and we once hoped to live with my 80-year old mother. It has been 75 years since Breuer demonstrated that a well-designed, modern home could be both affordable and practical for the average American family. How might we reimagine his epic home, in low-fidelity pen and ink architectural sketches, for The Sandwich Generation?
