Writing is a mechanical process, and by practicing daily mechanical maintenance, i.e. writing, I’m inherently increasing my capacity to perform. I’m building skill through action.
Now, compare and contrast that to Curiosity.
Not simply a a mechanical process; I can’t sit in a empty room every day and self-declare that I’m curious. 🧐 I guess I could but … we know it doesn’t work that way.
I keep learning because I want to (aka staying curious). It’s not effortful for me; it’s kinda like the point of things; to learn new things and maximize my experience of the world.
Intellectually, I know I’ll never be able to fully experience consciousness in-our -limited-time-here because there’s too much of it to experience in a mere human-lifetime.
This is a constraint for everyone.
So it remains in my power to widen the gap between today and then.
If I stay curious with a mechanical daily writing practice, I keep learning. If I’m learning this, then I’m excited to share that and then I learn more and then …
Even sharing this reflection with you feels rather profound for me as I’m realizing this.
