The REAL money is made(lost) at the tails. 68%+ of society credit(debit) all-day on the (still life changingly lucrative) scraps in the middle.
This is the main reason it’s taken this long for Bitcoin to go institutionally mainstream (Jan. 2024) - in sync with “career risk” inverting from “don’t recommend bitcoin” to “you must recommend a non-zero allocation to bitcoin!” Correlation or CAUSATION?
Those in the middle (most people) place the most trust in “the system” because they have the most to lose.
Why?
Because they spend their time operating in the middle - that’s their locus of control - or rather pragmatically (programmatically 🤔) assumed ignorance.
The poor have less trust in “the system” because it has failed them in one and likely many ways. = DISTRUST
The rich have less trust in “the system” because they think “the guys” in power right now are less good / trustworthy than “their guys”. = DISTRUST
Everyone else is in the middle. We trust because what other choice is there? ….
But why not acknowledge the above observation - insightful to me at least - and navigate accordingly.
As my friend Bernard recently said to me, “Your objective is to build a financial wall around you.”
Is he a capitalist …. “pig”? Capitalist - hell yeah. Pig? No and that’s not a nice way to refer to a fellow human.
Anyway back to the point - you NEED a financial wall around you to enliven your full potential.
“I would rather be poor.” - said no serious person ever.
And before you cry Mother Teresa. Read Christopher Hitchens. Maybe you’ll reconsider your whole perspective on what “helping the poor” even means.
Sorry got sidetracked. What was I talking about? Oh yeah a financial wall.
It enables peace of mind.
Protection.
It enables optionality.
In other words you can actually pursue your dreams. Your ideas about saving the world no longer must remain words. You can manifest them into reality - regardless of whether others think it’s a “good / bad” idea. Who the fuck cares what they think, anyway.
And hearing you bitch about what you “would do” is fokin’ annoying. Just figure out how to actually do it or be quiet and listen.
Let’s fucking go. Go Build your walls.
i like the framing of building walls to give you peace of mind.
From my Mom (posted with her permission):
Thanks bait.
The thought expressed in this post resonated with me a lot about the financial wall .
I think when I reflect on my life this is what exactly I was doing in my last job which gave me the opportunity & access to a 403 b , I was getting the max allowed to contribute to build a nest egg to make me feel secure to some extent. Did not have any creative money making skills or knowledge other than doing hard honest job .
